About This Item

Description of Item

14,174 - I Love Chiesa Farm

Janice Shaw
Lexington, MA USA

Width: 11.5" Length: 9"

Materials/Techniques: This is a fabric collage using lots of scraps and fusible web. I used a photo of the scene as a pattern reference, fused the fabric, cut the design and ironed it to muslin. I added batting, did some machine quilting, embellishment and then machine quilted the whole thing using a cotton backing.

Artist Statement: I designed and coordinated making a historical contemporary quilt, "Pieces of Our Town" to honor Lexington, MA's 300th birthday. Seventeen women helped to accomplish this goal. I was proud of our work and wanted to do a separate block, similar to the original one on the quilt, of Chiesa Farm, which is one of our local conservation land areas. It is such a beautiful and special place to walk. Everyone should have their own special place!

Dedication: I made this quilt thinking of my friend Roberta who recently lost her dad, Raymond, and then her mom, Louise, to Alzheimer's. There has to be a better way!

This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
