The Curious Crustacean series of books were written by Kristin Bryan, as a tribute to her sister Kelly who had special needs. Mrs. Crawdad was Kelly's nickname when she swam the backstroke in Special Olympics competitions because of her ability to swim like a crawdad. Kristin Bryan teaches the reader that if you have a good attitude, you can be happy with who you are.
