Cotton fabrics; thread painting; machine applique and quilted; bead embellishments.

Artist Statement This little quilt was inspired by the song "The Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" by K. T. Tunstall, a Scottish singer and songwriter. The song was released in 2005. The background is based on two photos I had in my files from Montpelier and the Blacksburg area. Other portions were based on inspiration images on the internet. Taking fabric from my landscape collection, I layered it on batting and backing fabric and sewed it down simply. Later, I added thread painting and embellished it with beads and wool. I chose this song for my Challenge quilt since it was fun to sing as I worked on my quilt. I like working on landscape quilts so this was a natural choice.
