Biography

Katy is a retired registered nurse who began quilting in earnest 10 years ago. She loves quilting, driving the "back roads" with her husband of 47 years, and spending time with her 3 sons and 4 grandsons.

Maryann finds a valuable sense of quiet and balance in her life when she is designing.

 

Biography

Maryann's creativity comes from the feel, texture and prints of a fabric, a photo, a travel or daily experience, the excitement of attending quilting design class, meeting other fiber quilt artists, actively participating with the her guild, reading about another design concept or another fiber/fabric artist, displaying my art, working as an active member at C’ville Arts, volunteering at The Virginia Quilt Museum in Harrisonburg Virginia, and having a membership in SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates).

Artist Statement

Phyllis made this little quilt as a result of a guild challenge using hexagons. She used the methods in the book Quick and Easy Hexie Quilts by Peggy Rhodes and Julia Wood. The dimensional hexagons reminded her of the texture of a pineapple.

 

Biography

Phyllis has always sewn clothes, bedding, etc. but in 1989 she took a quilting class and has loved it ever since. She is a member of the Charlottesville Area Quilters Guild and is well respected for her fine hand work and creative ideas.
