We help our clients when they need additional assistance to remain independent and in their own home in a safe and healthy environment. This program is considered a “last resort” resource when the client desperately needs something and has no other resources available.
This client is 45 years old and suffers from ALS – Lou Gehrig’s disease. He is unable to walk, but is able to get around on an electric scooter. The sliding glass door in the home, which allows the scooter to leave, has a broken glass pane on one side and the metal track is bent and barely operable. In case of a fire or other emergency, it would be almost impossible for this client to get to safety. The client is unable to speak easily and though limited physically, is quite sharp mentally and operates a computer via “eye gazing”.
